Book Review: The Life of Anna, Part 4: Ensnared, by Marissa Honeycutt

“Just when you think it couldn’t get any darker…”

Out of the first four books, I think the fourth is the best by far. Perhaps it’s the way people finally come together throughout the story to fix the wrong forced upon Anna as they should’ve a long time ago, or maybe it’s just the ending where Ian did something that honestly made me cheer and think, “finally!”

Either way, it’s as if you’re finally seeing the light at the end of the long, dark tunnel! čÖé

This part starts two years after the ending of the first book, and Anna’s emerging from a dark, drug induced haze during which Devin has continued to terrible things to her with the help of Kaveh. These things help him grow stronger, and for Anna to grow weaker, into a barely recognized version of herself, all while believing Alex — the man she married and lost three months after — to be dead and gone forever, even though she sees him in her dreams.

Devin’s run everyone off – including Kurt and Wilhelm – and slowly Anna’s powers are weakened while Devin’s become enough to make me worry for everyone’s safety! He does some pretty disgusting things and I wanted to reach through the book and strangle him myself.

As for Anna, she does get little bits of happiness, such as with the Russian dancer she ends up living with. Of course, nothing is as it appears in her life, which you can’t help but wish Anna would see so she wouldn’t get hurt. Yet, the fact she loves so openly and honestly is one of the best parts about her even with all the pain.

You just want her to get out and away from Devin’s control…and slowly throughout the story you see parts where there is some sort of plan brewing, although you don’t know exactly what is going to happen, and┬álike I said, the ending made me cheer.

As with all the others, this book has you on edge wondering what is going to happen next, and you’ll be┬ádying to read the last part to see how everything┬ápans out beyond the terrific ending of part four!

You may purchase this part on Amazon US for $2.99, as well as other eBook retailers.
